Robert C. Vercio, MD
Robert C. Vercio, MD is a Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in hand and upper extremity care, including sports-related conditions of the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand. As a fellowship-trained specialist, he treats everything from the shoulder to the fingertips — restoring function where it matters most.
A Gig Harbor native, Dr. Vercio is proud to be caring for the community he grew up in. He completed his medical training and residency at Loma Linda University in Southern California followed by advanced fellowship training at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Returning home to Washington has allowed him to combine world-class training with a deep personal connection to the region and the people he serves.
Dr. Vercio’s care philosophy begins with listening first. He believes that every patient’s story, lifestyle, and goals are unique — and that X-rays, ultrasounds, or MRIs are just a piece of the puzzle. By understanding what matters most to each person, he works collaboratively to find the right treatment path and achieve the best possible outcome.

For Dr. Vercio, taking care of the upper extremity is both a responsibility and an honor. Hands are how we engage with the world — work, create, communicate, and connect — and restoring a patient’s ability to do those things is at the heart of his practice. He strives to provide both exceptional skill and genuine compassion, caring for each patient with the same dedication he would offer to his own family.
